By Brittaney Thrasher, Senior at MHS Don't freak out! I promise it will be okay. Yes there are a lot of dates to remember and the new and unfamiliar contests seem to just sneak up on you, but I promise those will be something you'll never forget. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would participate in half of the different activities for FFA. I didn't know a thing about them. Horse judging? Me? I only see them once a year at the rodeo! However, when no one else volunteered and I was thrown over the saddle to become part of the horse judging team, I have never regretted it. Sure I studied the gigantic packet day and night to figure out what exactly constituted as a healthy horse and sure I showed up at the school before the rooster woke up, but it was worth it in the end. I may have placed 10 from last, but the experience of being part of a team and meeting new FFA members from around the state was something you can only experience being in FFA. After that contest, I was roped into nearly all the other events, competitive or not, and had even more fun than before. My advice to you would be to try everything you'd never thought to do. You never know, you may be great at it and the experience you'll gain from every thing you've tried will be worth it all in the end! Good Luck! Senior You
